One of the best ways to stay on top of what’s new is attending conferences and learning from and connecting with other IT professionals. 

Every year there are a ton of great conferences to pick from, but it’s not always easy to choose which ones you should allocate time and resources to. Since the year is coming to an end, it’s time to start getting ahead on planning your conference schedule for 2020. Here are some IT/Tech conferences we picked out that we think you should have on your radar next year:



Consumer Electronics Show (CES)

Why not start your year in Vegas? CES is one of the largest global tech conferences and has been introducing attendees to next-generation innovations for 50 years. There are more than 4,500 exhibiting companies and a conference program with more than 250 sessions. Every year the conference attracts global business leaders and the world’s tech pioneers to a forum where the relevant industry topics and issues are discussed. Did we mention it’s in Vegas?


Cloud Expo Europe

Date: March 11th – 12th, 2020

Cloud Expo Europe is the UK’s largest tech conference with 21,000+ visitiors, 700+ speakers and 700+ exhibitors. This event “connects technologists, business leaders, and senior managers with tech experts, solutions, and services that can help you accelerate your digital transformation plans.” With so many exhibitors, this is a good opportunity to see what services are out there, and should be a good return on your time invested given that registration is free.


Data Center World

Date: March 16th – 19th, 2020

Data Center World is “the leading conference for Data Center and IT Infrastructure professionals.” Down in San Antonio, Texas, Data Center World features the largest data center-focused exhibition hall, with more than 150 exhibitors showcasing products and services that can help optimize your data center strategy. There are also nearly 70 educational sessions in which you can learn how to improve data center management skills. Network with over 1,800 IT Infrastructure and Data Center Facilities professionals, plus over 100 thought leaders and speakers.

Each year Oktane brings together thousands of IT professionals, product leaders, and professionals for a full week of keynotes, breakout sessions, networking events, and training sessions. Oktane provides opportunities for attendees to share best practices for extending the power of the cloud. If you attend, you’ll have a chance to connect with Okta partners and emerging vendors to see how latest integrations can solve your toughest security and access challenges. A smaller professional development IT conference in southern California, TabGeeks is for people at small-to-midsize businesses. With the conference being capped at 80 people, TabGeeks aims to make sure each session is intimate and relevant to the average IT professional. To create an even more productive learning environment, they keep sponsors out of all their sessions so you never have to hear an unwanted sales pitch. Per their site, “TabGeeks is the only community exclusively for I.T. people, built by I.T. people.” 


IBM Think

IBM Think is IBM’s annual tech and IT conference. Attending allows you to “acquire hands-on experience with the latest advancements in open technologies from hybrid multicloud to data and AI – then meet the luminaries who are using them to transform our lives.” IBM has designed redesigned their conference curriculum and has two options for passes:  The Discover Pass, which focuses primarily on business insights, and a Full Conference Pass, that lets you explore the entire curriculum plus labs, certifications, and technical sessions. This conference includes some great sessions and more than enough opportunity to network and connect with important people in the space. And it’s held in San Francisco! 


SITS London

The Service Desk & IT Support Show is “Europe’s leading event for IT Service Management and Support professionals.” The event features over 75 IT Service Management suppliers and offers a great opportunity to meet face-to-face with the teams behind the products and get hands on demos. SITS also offers free ITSM training, and hosts over 60 free-to-attend sessions including seminars, keynotes, and informal small group discussions. Oh, it’s in London!

MacAdmins is the premier east coast conference for anyone who deploys and manages Macs and iOS devices. (You’ve probably at least heard of the MacAdmins Slack instance, which has over 29,000 and hundreds of channels regarding different IT topics.) Last year the conference featured 68 sessions, 7 workshops, several hundred attendees, with top-notch speakers in the macOS and iOS deployment community. The conference is held at Penn State University every year.

VMWorld USA is one of two huge annual conferences put on by VMWare, the other one being VMWorld Europe. VMWorld USA says it “captures the momentum of today’s rapidly changing IT environment and puts it within your grasp so you can accelerate your cloud journey to support your business.” This year’s conference, held August 30 – September 3, featured 21,000+ attendees, 5,000+ companies, and 230 sponsors & exhibitors, from 86 countries. Spiceworld is a three day conference of how-to sessions, networking with peers, and hands-on experiences with the latest IT products and solutions. VMWorld Europe

VMWorld Europe is, you guessed it, the European version of VMWorld USA. This year’s conference was in Barcelona, Spain (it is actually taking place right now at the time of this posting), and features 13,000+ attendees, 3,500+ companies, and 115 sponsors & exhibitors, from 101 countries.


MacTech Conference

MacTech is a 3-day, immersive, technical conference specifically designed for Apple IT Pros, Enterprise, techs, and consultants. The conference provides a combination of interactive sessions, talks from influential speakers, and plenty of networking activities. MacTech also selects key vendors to attend their events so you have the opportunity to make contacts with various companies and learn about the different solutions they offer. This year’s event was in Redondo Beach, and IT Kit hosted a happy hour for conference attendees which was a blast!

For the past 10 years, Apple IT administrators have gathered together at the Jamf Nation User Conference (JNUC). This conference’s focus is on new and better ways to manage Apple devices with a purpose of empowering people, transforming business processes, and making IT life easier. JNUC is a great opportunity to network and become a part of a very tight-knit Apple IT community. A few things attendees can expect are; Product demos from Jamf experts, deep-dive technical sessions, and customer-led sessions from IT leaders.
